Hebrews 12 Part II (Women in Ministry)

”Dear friends, the race isn’t over yet. Get up and keep running.”

It is heartbreaking when we hear of people who once stood where we stand and walked the road we walk, but who have drifted far away from the Lord, his people, and his work.

Yet we ourselves can often feel that temptation. Do we ever wonder if keeping going in Christian Ministry is worthwhile? Living the Christian life is a struggle at the best of times; ministry – trying to encourage others to keep going – is just as hard. Carrie Sandom assures us that we are not alone in this, and encourages us to keep going.

By looking at the letter to the Hebrews, written to Christians who were discouraged in their faith, under pressure to give up on the Lord and to opt for an easier way of life, she finds assurance that will keep us going in faith and in ministry. By remembering the supremacy of the Lord Jesus Christ, the sufficiency of his work, we are reminded why holding onto him is the only way to be saved. It is a reminder that will strengthen us and those we serve.
