| The Story of Elisha | These seminars look at how to preach a series on Elisha's ministry. Many Christians know just one or two stories about Elisha, but reading 2 Kings shows us that he is a figure of great importance. He is, along with Elisha, an embodiment of the central messages of 1 & 2 Kings: a call back to God's word, and to life lived in obedience to God. As we go through theis story, we see a God who always carries on his work, whatever the obstacles, and not dependent on men or on human successes for his ultimate success. As well as looking at how to prepare and preach a series on Elisha, these seminars examine many of the real difficulties and challenges of these passages. They will encourage us not only to preach this story, but to preach Old Testament narrative more often. | FREE | ||
| Remaking a broken world | From the very beginning, sin has divided men and women from one another as well as from God. It has led to God's judgement, which has scattered humanity to prevent further evil. In consequence, we live in a broken world. But God is remaking that world. Through the whole history of redemption, we see God at work to gather a people together, and we see him at work day by day in the gathering of the local church. The church may not impress us, but it is a foretaste of the remade world God is preparing for us. In these three talks, Christopher Ash uses this theme to give us an overview of the whole bible story, and shows us how the history of redemption can be understood as the scattering and remaking of humanity. He shows us, too, how understanding this theme, and in particular, what it shows us about the local church, can change our Christian lives and ministries. | FREE | ||
| Daniel: God's Kingdom on every page | Chapters 7-12 of Daniel are rarely taught. These strange, apocalyptic chapters are confusing at first sight, and seem little to do with daily life In reality, though, they have much to say to us, and are not as difficult as we first think. Simon Manchester guides us through teaching these inspiring chapters. The book of Daniel was written at a time of great trouble for the people of God and its message reassures all those in a similar situation. Not only is God in control, he his growing his kingdom day by day, even when we cannot see that. In these four talks from the Autumn Ministers conference, Simon Manchester tackles one narrative chapter and the six apocalyptic chapters of Daniel, and shows us both the message of Daniel and how to teach it to our people
