Who can take the Cornhill Training Course?
Men and women with evangelical convictions from all Christian denominations. We are looking for those with both a hunger and a gifting for Bible-teaching ministry. We want to train students who are hoping, God-willing, to do Bible teaching work in the future.
For many, the Course is an important part of testing their suitability for this calling. A number of our students are moving towards ordained ministry and/or cross-cultural mission.
Some evidence of experience in teaching the Bible will be expected. This may have been gained in preaching, or (more often) in small-group contexts or youth and children's work.
The course provides an ideal grounding in Bible-teaching for church apprentices, as well as for those who already have a regular ministry in their own churches.
How can the course be taken?
The course meets in Borough, central London, each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for three terms totalling 30 teaching weeks in each year. There are three ways to take the course:
> The Cornhill Ministry Scheme - An increasing number of students are being taken onto the staff team of a church for two years, while the church sponsors them to take the Cornhill course for two days a week (Monday and Tuesday in the first year, Thursday and Friday in the second year).
The advantages include a full involvement in a local church, mentored by one of the staff team.
A student needs to be accepted both by Cornhill and by the local church.
> Full-Time Study - full-time students take the course four days a week over one year. Wednesday is a study day and Sunday a day for ministry in the local church.
> Part-Time Study - Part time students may take the course while continuing with a secular job the rest of the week. The course runs Mondays and Tuesdays for the first year, Thursdays and Fridays in the second. Those living away from London only need stay Monday and/ or Thursday nights in London.
